2011 Charity Drive Photos and Information
Summer at Sunsetview Farm Camping Area in Monson Massachusetts means fun, relaxing and spending time with friends and family. But to a very generous group of campers here at Sunsetview, it also means taking the time to extend a helping hand.
One of this season’s charities was sponsored by: Advocating For Alyssa, Autism Awareness. Alyssa is a member of the Brodsky family and one of our seasonal campers. The Brodsky’s are tireless workers in the Autism Community. Funds raised were split between Autism Speaks and Community Resources For People with Autism.
Autism Speaks' goal is to change the future for all who struggle with Autism Spectrum Disorders. They are dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for autism. They also work to raise public awareness, and bring hope to all who deal with the hardships of this disorder.
Community Resources For People With Autism is a local organization that provides information, advocacy, training, education, practical help, and family support for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families living in Western Massachusetts. Their goal is to help families build on their strengths, work together to create a positive future, and help their children learn, grow, and be welcomed as fully included members of their communities.
Saturday September 3, we presented two checks, each in the amount of $1,250.00 to Christy DeGrandpre form Autism Speaks and Jean Claude Gerlus from Community Resources For People With Autism.
In addition Rudy Brodsky presented checks each in the amount of $1,100.00 to each charity from a golf tournament that many of our campers participated in.

- Thank you to all those involved with the golf tournament.
Tornado Relief
Due to the tragic events on June 1st, our campers requested that we benefit Monson with all of our Labor Day events this year. Monson has always supported our events in the past and we all feel that we needed to support Monson in this time of need. All money raised on Labor Day Weekend will go to The Monson Savings Bank Tornado Assistance Fund. This fund will directly benefit the people of Monson who were affected by the June 1st tornado. Thank you all for your support in this decision!! Our combined efforts raised $5,000.00 for the fund in one weekend!
The Sunsetview campers and staff also collected casseroles during June. With the help of The First Church of Monson, our campers helped provide meals that were served to families in need and volunteers who were working to clean up from the June 1st tornados that hit our beautiful town. Thank to all who cooked and delivered casseroles.
The Massachusetts Association of Campground Owners, MACO, designated this past July 4th weekend as "Support Village Green Family Campground" Weekend. Sunsetview was one of over 50 participating MACO parks and their campers that pledged $1.00 per site to the relief fund to help rebuild Village Green Family Campground in Brimfield MA and reunite the community of campers that have called that park their second home for so many years. This campground was devastated by the June 1st tornado. We asked our campers to match our donation by giving $1.00 for their site. Our campers more than matched our donation! We collected $366.00. That made Sunsetview’s donation to the Village Green Fund $600.00! On August 5, 2011 MACO presented a check to Les and Meg Twarowski, owners of Village Green, in the amount of $13,318.00! Thanks to all who contributed. Campers are the best!
Labor Day Chinese Raffle
Thank you to everyone who donated, worked, and purchased tickets for last weekends Chinese Raffle. We truly do have a wonderful group of generous campers! We are so proud of all who were involved and of the area businesses that donated items. Our community pride is simply amazing!!! This event raised $4,151.00. This combined with our other events; our campground will donate an outstanding $5,000.00 to benefit the Monson Savings Bank Tornado Assistance Fund.

I would like to take a minute to thank everyone that helped out with our raffle last weekend. Without all of you we would not have been able to pull it off. Whether you sold tickets, collected donations, set up, broke down or helped the night of the raffle passing out prizes, made a donation to the raffle or purchased tickets, your time and effort helped us raise a lot of money for a great cause. I hope to see all of you Columbus Day for the check presentation. Thanks From Kim
Thank You From Len
What a great and rewarding season it has been! The generosity of our fellow campers is overwhelming. They are absolutely the greatest! The ultimate reward for us is always the presentation of the check to the chosen charity, and their expression of gratitude.
I would like to give a special thanks to my wife Doris and to my co chair Kim and her husband Norm. Our spouses were there for support and assistance at each event. Their contribution played a vital role in the success of the raffles. Our job starts on Memorial Day weekend and continues every weekend thru Labor Day. It is a great commitment but well worth it. Once again, thank all of the volunteers who donated their time and energy to both events. Without their efforts, nothing could have been accomplished to the extent that it did.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my most sincere thanks to Lisa, Donna, and Steve and to all of the office staff for their cooperation and support. All of you always made certain that we had everything we needed at all times, and in a timely manner. Thanks once again for a fine job. Thanks From Len
