A message to our camping families from Ron and Reen Plante:
As another season comes to a close we would like to take this opportunity to reflect
back on the most successful season ever! We held ten events through out the season to
benefit the local Ronald McDonald House, this was a major undertaking. Thanks to all
of you, we were able to raise a WHOPPING $11,000.00.
The first event was the Walk-A Thon chaired by Kevin and Joan Flanaghan which
raised $459.00. A Go-to Jail Night brought in $1054.00. This event was chaired
by Louise Perry and Buffy Oster. Next, our annual Auction chaired by Dave and
Maryellen Cambio which raised a record $1911.00. On August 2nd the children and
families of the Ronald McDonald House came to Sunsetview for a day of fun and food.
The spirit and dedication of our camping families was never more evident then it was
on this occasion. Everyone in the campground rose to support this huge endeavor.
Thirty-five of our children and thirty adults participated in this event. That evening
the children hosted a Spaghetti Supper, chaired by Kevin and Joan Flanaghan. A
total of $1148.00 was collected. Linda Quinn donated a pasta basket to raffle, which
brought in $232.00. We would like to thank Linda Quinn and Eddie Marchette for
supplying and driving the bus that brought the Ronald McDonald House contingent to the
campground.
We would like to thank the Bingo and Pokeno Workers for raising the $238.00,
Ray Taft and his Dart Players for raising $279.00, Bill Rochford and his
Horseshoe Players for raising $650.00, and Carol and Donna for raising $151.00
with the Car Show 50/50 Raffle.
Thank you to Ron and Linda Beaulieu for raising $1267.00 on our Weekly 50/50
Raffle and many thanks to Royetta Dionne and Joan Hammon for raising $3507.00 on
the Chinese Raffle.
A record 159 campers volunteered and participated in these events, too many to mention
by name, but we know who you are. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all
your help. We also want to thank the staff for all their help through these endeavors.
Special thanks to Lisa, Steve and Donna. We could not have done this with out your
help.
Thank you and God Bless, Ron and Rene.
Labor Day September 1, 2008
Halloween August 23, 2008
We would like to thank the members of the "Get It Done" crew who built and ran our Spook Ride on Saturday, August 23, 2008. Because of all of
your efforts we raised $1,200.00!! All proceeds this year will go to The Multiple Sclerosis Society's Hike and Bike in the Berkshires this
September. It is a cause that is very important to us; as our own DJ Bonnie is afflicted with this debilitating disease. By having
purchased a ticket, you have sponsored Robin and Bonnie in the MS Bike and Hike event. Thank you to our hardworking crew who loaded the rides,
cleaned the restrooms, and patrolled the park. The evening went so smoothly. Thank you, thank you, and thank you, to all! Much appreciation to
everyone who bought tickets; you made everything and everyone's efforts so worthwhile! Here are some behind the scenes photos!
Children's Spaghetti Supper Fundraiser August 2, 2008
Previously in 2008...
We are all looking forward to another great year of fundraising for the local chapter of The Ronald McDonald House.
Ron and Rene have a lot of things planned for this season, here are some highlights:
- Weekly 50/50 Raffle.
- Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 4:00 pm Children's Walk-A-Thon: We will be holding a new event to benefit The Ronald McDonald House!
All children are encouraged to walk for this worthwhile cause. The entire route will be within the boundaries of the camp. The
event should take about 1 hour, and there will be free refreshments available after the event. Also prizes will be awarded to
those individuals with the most donations. We encourage parents or guardians to walk with their children, but if this is not
possible, we will have chaperones available. Collection envelopes are available starting Saturday, May 31st at the office or
at Marcus and Lucas's site #33. Please ask your friends, family, and neighbors you know to support you and help us raise money
for this great cause. Remember; only ask people you know, never strangers. We only ask that each child have a minimum of $5.00
in donations. Start collecting donations now, and turn them in at the event on June 21st.
Make any checks payable to Sunsetview Farm Camping Area)
- June 28, 2008, *New* "Go To Jail", details coming soon!
- July 5, 2008, Charity Auction, we are now looking for donations of items for this event.
- August 2, 2008, Spaghetti Supper prepared and served by the campground kids.
- Labor Day Weekend, August 30 through September 1, 2008. Bingo Marathon and Chinese Raffle.
On April 26, 2008, the campground kids were invited to come and tour The Ronald McDonald House to see first hand where all the monies raised go to work helping families from all over the world. Here are some photos to share from that day.
We want to thank Jennifer Putman for her hospitality, and for the great pizza! A big thank you goes out to Linda Quinn for providing the bus. And of course, we could not do any of this without our fearless leader, Ron Plante. After our tour, we all got back on the bus and Ron said, who wants to put on the Spaghetti Supper this year, and all the kids yelled WE DO!!! We are so proud of their enthusiasm!!! Be sure to dine with them on Saturday August 2, 2008.
